This tutorial is best done with a vertical image

Open your tube and resize it to 190 pixels in width

The width is very important in this lesson.

The measurements of my tube

was width 190 x 210 pixels in height

but not all images will have this size.

For this reason I will use selections in this tutorial.

Choose two colors from your image:

light foreground;

dark background.

With your image open:

Selections -- Select All

Selections -- Modify -- Contract with 1 pixel.

Selections -- Invert

Fill this selection with your dark color.

Open a new transparent image 400 x 400 pixels.

Fill with your light color.

Add a new raster layer and fill with your dark color.

Effects -- Image Effects -- Offset,

with these settings:

  • Horizontal: 300

  • Vertical: 0

  • Edge Mode : Color - your light color

  • Custom : checked
